Making Room -for Outdoor-

The main design objective of the new Faculty of Management building is to reduce congestion in pedestrian circulation, the spatial rupture between the surrounding buildings and inadequacy of outdoor space in İTÜ Maçka Campus. For that aim the Faculty of Management building starts to form as an outdoor space of the surrounding buildings, and gradually obtains its own final form through Süleyman Seba Street.

The spatial organization proposes a perception of dynamism from the inside of the campus while from the outside its perception is neutralized in relation to the historical police station building nearby, on the façade facing Süleyman Seba Street. The building itself communicates with the outdoor on every possible level. By this means, it is aimed to diversify the circulation scenarios in the campus. These levels are unified through a gallery inside which is intended to make this spatial scenario readable as possible from the interior of the new Faculty of Management building.
